Robert G. Hoyt serves as Director, Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection, where he is responsible for the county's programs that manage water supply and wastewater management, storm water control, energy, air quality, noise, climate change, streams/watersheds and more than a dozen other areas that impact the environment. Mr. Hoyt manages a 60-member staff and a $10.4 million budget.

Prior to his appointment to this post by Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, Mr. Hoyt co-founded The EcoLogix Group, Inc. This agency serves organizations that impact water, air and land, by providing solutions that temper economic goals with environment and social values. Among the group's clients are the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the City of Baltimore, the Maryland Coastal Bays Program, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Coalition.

Previously, Mr. Hoyt was Senior Vice President for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, where he developed and oversaw the Strategic Plan. He was also a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Division of Law. He has 10 years of combined experience practicing and teaching environmental law. He has taught at the University of Maryland's School of Law and the Widener University School of Law.

Hoyt earned a B.A. in Political Science from Princeton University and a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University.
