Tours of Blue Plains

Welcome to the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. There are two ways to tour the plant — you may request an on-site guided tour or you may access the Virtual Tour online — an interactive, user-friendly, comprehensive and integrated multimedia overview of DC WASA's Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant (AWTP).

Wastewater is collected by the District of Columbia sewer system and from the Maryland and Virginia suburbs and is delivered to the Blue Plains AWTP. The Blue Plains AWTP is the largest advanced wastewater treatment facility of its type in the world. This overview will leave you with an understanding of the basic processes that happens at the Blue Plains AWTP and serve to provide a unique Blue Plains experience.
