DCWASA will require an applicant to relocate a water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, or any structure, if their project has a negative impact on the pipeline. The applicant is responsible for the design, permit, inspection, and construction costs for the relocation.
The design must meet the requirements of all permitting agencies. DCWASA will only approve the plans after the applicant has the appropriate approval stamps on copies of the plans. When the plans are ready for approval, DCWASA will estimate the costs to provide services during the construction of the relocation by the applicant's contractor. Once the applicant pays this fee, DCWASA will approve the plans and issue a water and sewer availability certificate, which the applicant needs to apply for all of the other necessary permits. DCWASA will complete the as-built of the completed work. DCWASA will release any remaining funds from the estimate after DCWASA and all other permitting agencies approve the completed work.
DCWASA only pays for some of the relocations costs associated with city road improvement projects.
