Employment applications are accepted for current openings only. A separate application must be submitted for each position. The job title and vacancy announcement number must be listed on the application in order for it to be accepted.

Applications must be received in the Human Resources Department no later than 5:00 p.m., EST, on the closing date listed in the vacancy announcement.

To apply for a DCWASA position, you may submit an application online, via U.S. mail, facsimile or e-mail. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of an application and incomplete applications will be discarded.

Submitting an online job application is fast and easy. The online form helps reduce errors by indicating where you have failed to fill out required information and by prefilling important information contained in a vacancy announcement.

Physical Examination - an applicant offered a position with DCWASA is required to pass a job related medical examination and drug screening prior to appointment.

Residency Preference Procedures

The Jobs for D.C. Residents Amendment Act of 2007 provides that an applicant for employment (or promotion) with the DC Water and Sewer Authority who resides in the District of Columbia may claim residency preference over a qualified non-resident job applicant.

If hired or promoted as a direct result of the D. C. residency preference, such persons MUST MAINTAIN RESIDENCY FOR 84 MONTHS after the date of hire (or promotion). Failure by the employee to maintain D.C. residency for the required time period shall result in a forfeiture of the position.

  • Read the vacancy announcement very carefully and make sure you understand both the job requirements and the requirements for submitting the corresponding job application.

  • Fill in the application information accurately and completely.
  • Before submitting the application, you can preview the information to make sure it looks and reads the way you want it to. You can also clear the form and start over.
  • After submitting the form, you will receive an e-mail response from DCWASA's Human Resources Department confirming receipt of your online application.
