Description of Duties:
Incumbent performs a wide variety of tests and calibration in accordance with instructions and procedures, which are often vague and incomplete. Uses judgment in determining the work sequence, selection and use of trade tools, and testing and measuring instruments. Diagnoses the cause(s) of malfunctions on a wide variety of electrical and electronic powered equipment. Performs all necessary actions to restore equipment to proper operating condition. Maintains and monitors the equipment and associated controls. Modifies and calibrates standard and non-standard equipment with minimum guidance or procedures. Ensures the safe and timely energizing and de-energizing of electrical power systems and equipment to protect equipment, structures and personnel. The above functions will be performed in a variety of locations throughout DC Water and Sewer Authority. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency and (5) years of experience in heavy industrial and/or commercial environment responsible for repairing and installing electrical equipment. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
Other Requirements:
In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit
