Description of Duties:
Directs activities of engineers engaged in preparing engineering studies, designs plans and specifications to construct, enlarge, modify such facilities as wastewater treatment plants, water and wastewater pumping stations, water transmission lines, and sanitary and storm sewers. Provides on site investigation and assessment of existing water, sewer and storm sewer piping, pumping and treatment facilities, and proposes recommendations for improvements to design, operations or maintenance. Directs and coordinates engineers in conducting studies involving engineering economics, alternative structural design systems, and ability to meet design objectives to determine most feasible approach to meeting organizational and technical problems. Directs the preparation of engineering and design standards. Performs routine technical and administrative functions including attending WASA and/or departmental policy meetings, and preparation of status reports for WASA management. Provides daily planning and administration in the selection, assignment, supervision, promotion, discipline, and training of personnel within the area. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Planning and Design.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and seven years of experience in management of water and sewer systems planning, design and engineering projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Utilizes personal computer and maintains a working knowledge of applicable software programs (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc).
