Performs protective coating and preventive painting on interiors and exteriors of buildings to include concrete floors, wood and metal doors, windows, stairs, ceilings, and walls. Paints trim, picture frames, bulletin boards, moldings and cabinets. Assists in varied tasks such as plastering, spackling, sanding and priming in the preparation for painting and coating. Performs carpentry work including installing and repairing items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce serviceable product. Assists other employees in erecting wooden frameworks, prefabricated buildings, and room petitions. Also assists with fabricating trim, picture frames, bulletin boards, moldings and cabinets; applies standard measurements, specifications, instructions, and blueprints. Operates and drives heavy duty dump truck, etc. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the supervisor. | | Minimum Qualifications: | High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) and (2) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to maintain and upkeep building facilities. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, a Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with (N endorsement) and a D.C. WASA Vehicle Endorsement. | | Other Requirements: | - In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
- First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
- Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
- Applicant must present a copy of current "Medical Examiner's Certificate" when presenting CDL.
- The Authority shall, pursuant to the driver's written authorization, inquire from previous employer(s) during the preceding two (2) years about alcohol test results of 0.04 or greater, verified positive controlled substances test results and refusals to be tested.
- Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's Permit
