Description of Duties:The incumbent performs a variety of tests and calibration in accordance with specific instructions and procedures by referring to blueprints, technical orders, schematics, writing diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications and using test materials. Assists in diagnosing the cause(s) of malfunctions on a variety of electrical and electronic powered equipment. Assists in performing all necessary actions to restore equipment to proper operating condition. Assists in maintaining the equipment and associated controls. Assists in the installation of electrical equipment and systems. These installations encompass the entire scope of the electrical field (i.e. industrial, commercial, residential, explosion proof, communication and security). Assists in ensuring the safe and timely energizing and de-energizing of electrical power systems and equipment to protect equipment, structures and personnel. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) and (2) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to maintain and upkeep building facilities. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, a Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) with (N endorsement) and a D.C. WASA Vehicle Endorsement.
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
  • Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
  • Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
