Description of Duties:The incumbent performs overhaul of process equipment in order to bring equipment to standard operation. Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions to process equipment and systems. Makes adjustments to equipment and components including, but not limited to; process pumps, blowers, compressors, bearings, valves, clarifiers, bar screens, grit units, centrifuges, process piping, etc. Rebuilds, repairs, maintains, and installs a wide variety of process equipment and systems. Tests process equipment and systems. Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations. Communicates all process equipment modifications to the Production Controller. Coordinates work with other trades. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and three (3) years experience with process mechanical equipment and systems. Knowledge and skills to burn, weld braze, sweat joints, and operate a wide variety of hand powered tools and some machine tools such as, but not limited to, drill press, pedestal grinder, cut off saw and arbor press. Basic Knowledge and ability to operate overhead cranes, come-along and portable cranes. Knowledge and ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s Permit.
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
  • Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
  • Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
