Description of Duties:The incumbent sets up employee level deductions (savings bonds, union dues, etc.). Sets up employee level direct deposit information. Resolves N.O.C.’s (Notice of Change) from bank. Process garnishment/child support / tax levy / bankruptcy / student loan collection orders. Process request for checks to pay garnishment, savings bonds, union dues, etc. Process direct deposit reversals / stop payments and confirmations with bank. Sets up and maintain tax profile (employee level), Maintains employees work schedule in Ceridian Time & Attendance systems. Communicates and researches payroll information for employees, managers and bank personnel. Controls and files time entry documents received. Audits timekeeping data. Assists in preparing and processing payroll journal entries. Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Payroll.
Minimum Qualifications:High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and six (6) years of progressive related payroll experience. Ability to apply a good understanding of payroll procedures and techniques to specific situations. Effective communication skills. Ability to tactfully handle payroll questions and resolve problems. Skill in performing basic mathematical computations with accuracy. Knowledge of FLSA and WAGE & Hour requirements. Knowledge of applicable software program (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, etc.).
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
