Description of Duties:The incumbent plans and directs work assignments. Coordinates the activities of the Meter Technicians to maximize effectiveness. Responsible for ensuring adequate inventory is available for issuance to Meter Technicians. Coordinates meetings with other shop or unit managers. Checks crews’ work to ensure safety, work quality quantity, and adherence to established procedures. Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with instructions. Participates in the performance of field tests of meters, performing quality assurance inspections of meter installations, performing bench test of all size meters, retrofitting existing amr compatible meters with mtus, etc. Investigates customer complaints. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of Daily Activity Report and the Time and Attendance log for subordinate employees. Prepares other reports such as accident and injury report, productivity and performance data report, etc. Provides daily planning and administration in the selection, assignment, supervision, promotion, discipline, and training of personnel within the unit. Operates Authority vehicles as an essential function of the position. Maintains vehicles and/or equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports any operating deficiencies to the appropriate Authority personnel. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Customer Services.
Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) and five (5) years of related experience inclusive of the testing and repair of large meters and the  installation and repair of Automatic Meter reading Technology. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and a DC WASA Vehicle Endorsement.
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
  • Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
