Description of Duties:
The incumbent inspects and maintains, inflatable dams, flow monitoring sites, rain gauges, public notification systems and other Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) related sites. Makes minor electrical repairs (limited to maximum 120 volts A.C.) and mechanical repairs to equipment or replace as needed. Ensures that Program Logic Controller (PLC is operating within design parameters, make adjustments to ensure compliance with National Discharge Pollution Elimination (NPDES) and Consent Decree. Operates Swirl Facility during storm events. Monitors flow in tanks, ensures that chemical system is operating properly, test for chemical residuals in effluent and record results. Collects swirl effluent grab and composite samples and send to lab for testing. Checks and maintains 21 pumping stations to ensure proper operations. Troubleshoots, performs minor repairs, overhaul, test and calibrate equipment, and controls as required to meet pump station capacity. Inspects and performs preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, screens, gates/valves, motor control equipment, and components such as dewatering pumps, seal water systems, air compressors, and other ancillary station equipment. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and five (5) years of related industrialized/utility experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s Permit and a DC WASA Vehicle Endorsement.

First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
