Description of Duties:Plans and directs employees assigned to projects involving buildings and grounds maintenance and other identified areas. Coordinates meetings with other shop foreman. Reviews procedures, manuals and training relevant to areas of responsibility and recommend methods to increase employee efficiency. Supervises and coordinate the materials handling function for the Buildings and grounds unit. Prepares equipment, accident, and daily reports and coordinates with Manager, Facilities Services. Checks crews’ work to ensure safety, work quality, quantity, and adherence to established procedures. Provides daily planning and administration in the selection, assignment, supervision, promotion, discipline, and training of personnel within the unit. Operates Authority vehicles as an essential function of the position. Maintains vehicles and/or equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports any operating deficiencies to the appropriate Authority personnel. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Facilities Services.
Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and three years of specialized experience directly related to building and grounds and road maintenance. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operating License and a DC WASA Vehicle Endorsement. Utilizes personal computer and maintains a working knowledge of applicable software programs (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc).
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
  • Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
  • Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
