Description of Duties:
The incumbent supervises the work activities of multiple separate units through the Unit Foreman. Reviews job orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations. Coordinates activities of workers fabricating and modifying machines, tools, or equipment. Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff. Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials. Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment. Assists in the preparation of the Department budged and monitors expenditures of funds in budget. Operates Authority vehicles as an essential function of the position. Maintains vehicles and/or equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports any operating deficiencies to the appropriate Authority personnel. Performs other related duties and projects ass assigned at the discretion of the Manager, Electrical Maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and nine (9) years of progressive experience related to water/wastewater industry maintenance, inclusive of three (3) years of experience as a first line Foreman or a Technical School diploma or Associates degree in a related technology area from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressive experience in water/wastewater industry maintenance and (30 years of experience as a first line Foreman. Must possess and maintain current or acquire within one (1) year of employment and maintain current certification as an International Maintenance Institute CWWMT IV and also certification from the Instrument Society of American designation of Certified Control Systems Technician CCST III or National Institute of Certification in Engineering Technologies NICET IV. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operating License and a DC WASA Vehicle endorsement.
Other Requirements:
In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
