Description of Duties:Prepares correspondence, legal documents and pleadings.  Coordinates activities of counsel, including calendar keeping and meeting scheduling.  Coordinates the work activities with other office personnel; provides assistance and support to office personnel when needed.  Prepares and assembles materials to assist counsel.  Meets with Authority personnel to gather information, etc.  Acts as liaison between counsel, authority staff, outside counsel and the public.  Proof reads documents and correspondence for accuracy.  Conducts legal research.  Monitors expenses; assists in the procurement of supplies and services necessary for office efficiency.  Prepares regular and special reports.  Performs other related duties and projects as assigned at the discretion of the General Counsel.
Minimum Qualifications:Paralegal certificate from an accredited program, college or university, and two years of general litigation experience in the area of personal injury law.  Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, power point (or equivalent), and spreadsheet programs.  Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
Other Requirements:
  • In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
