Description of Duties:
Assist in monitoring of the SCADA system for normal operating at pumping stations and CSO sites. Checks all equipment for proper operation. Provides assistance in the maintenance of wet well level to prevent over flows. Prepares routine reports of activity and calculates amount of pumpage. Assists in checking oil levels, sealing water supply and packing gland leaks as well as all electromechanical equipment at pumping stations. Monitors water system pressures and refers problems to high graded Operator. Operates Authority vehicles as an essential function of the position. Maintains vehicles and/or equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Reports any operating deficiencies to the appropriate Authority personnel. Maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of all facilities and coordinates the cutting of grass Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations. Assists in performing preventative maintenance activities on various equipment. Assists in performing minor mechanical repairs on equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate and three (3) years of experience related to providing assistance in operating utility systems in a pumping station environment. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operating License and a DC WASA Vehicle Endorsement.
Other Requirements:
In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
First time supervisors and all new D.C. Water and Sewer Authority employees will serve a one (1) year probationary period regardless of prior governmental affiliation.
Incumbent is subject to 24-hour emergency call and may be required to work overtime during emergencies.
Incumbent serves as an essential employee, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the Authority has closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
Incumbent must posses a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's permit and may be required to obtain an Authority permit to operate a motor vehicle
