The Anacostia Force Main (AFM) consists of 32,700 linear feet of 108" diameter sewer pipe. The pipe runs from just outside the District of Columbia near highway I-295, through the District to its ending point near South Capitol Street and Firth Sterling Avenue, S.E.

The AFM consists largely of pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe installed in the late 1970's. The pipeline construction was completed by 1975, but wasn't put into service until 1995. (The maps attached to the fact sheet show the current route and location of the AFM.)
