As part of its Capital Improvement Program, the DC Water and Sewer Authority (DC WASA) will replace existing 12-inch and smaller cast iron water mains along Dupont Circle, N.W. The pipes within Dupont Circle were laid over 60 years ago and have experienced a number of breaks. DC WASA decided to utilize PVC pipe material on this project because of the growing potential for corrosion of ductile iron pipe in this area (See back page of Fact sheet on Dupont Circle water main replacement (PDF) for location map).
